The American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) has announced that Nate Shapiro, Test Manager II, of Blizzard Entertainment will be the keynote speaker at the ASTQB Summit Software Testing Conference that takes place on September 15, 2017 in Irvine, California. Nate is currently the Test Manager for Heroes of the Storm overseeing all Quality Assurance operations for the product. The keynote topic, “Quality Assurance as a Profession,” explains that in order to be successful in Quality Assurance, one must look to become a master of your craft. Unfortunately, the 10,000 hour rule doesn’t always apply. Studies have shown that you need to practice your craft deliberately to become a master and evolve with the industry. Time alone does not work. In this talk, Nate will talk about how Blizzard Entertainment approaches making QA into a profession and how we’ve evolved with the industry. Nate Shapiro, CTEL-TM Full, started his career in the gaming industry in 2007. He’s spent the majority of his career at Blizzard in a Quality Assurance related role. Nate is currently the Test Manager for Heroes of the Storm overseeing all Quality Assurance operations for the product. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton and his MBA from University of California, Irvine. The ASTQB Summit is a one day software testing conference that focuses practical solutions to common testing problems, particularly when the tester does not have enough time or resources. Speakers at the conference will discuss topics including mobile testing, test automation, security testing, business analysis/UAT, performance testing, and agile testing.
