TAMPA, Fla. (Jan 22, 2015) – The American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB – https://www.astqb.org) seeks to support the teaching and study of software testing within U.S. colleges and universities.

For the 2015-2016 academic year, ASTQB is offering scholarships of $2500 to qualified undergraduates.

Eligibility
Applicants must be students currently enrolled and majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent subject at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education. Their academic program must include at least one course devoted to software testing.

Procedure
Submit to headquarters@astqb.org the following application materials no later than May 1, 2015:

  • Official transcript of undergraduate studies to date
  • List of departmental course offerings, including a description of the course(s) devoted to testing
  • Indication that a testing course will be taken during 2015-2016 (if not already completed)
  • At least one recommendation letter from a current faculty member
  • Brief (~500 word) essay on contribution of testing to software development

Award of scholarship will be announced by June 1, 2015.

Upon certification of student enrollment for the 2015-2016 term, scholarship funds will be submitted directly to the school’s Office of Financial Aid. The money will be applied to the student’s account per the institutional protocol.

NOTE: The scholarship may be renewed for a second year upon submission of a renewal request indicating satisfactory completion of the software testing course, adequate performance in all other studies, and an additional essay on the student’s insights into software testing.
