Why are U.S. testers getting additional ISTQB certifications at a higher rate? Unlike testers in many parts of the world, testers looking for jobs in the U.S. have a greater tendency to continue past the Foundation Level with several ISTQB specialty and advanced certifications.
"Why is that?" we wondered.
The answer wasn't hard to find. We looked at U.S. job postings and then talked to testers who had applied for jobs in the U.S. Here is what one tester told us:
“As far as getting the attention of employers, I do feel that my ASTQB certifications tend to propel my resume to the top of the pile.”
Even if you aren't looking for a job, your current employer notices your certifications! When we surveyed U.S. managers about ISTQB certification, 96% said they felt that professional certification helps to demonstrate professional competency. That's a good thing to hear when it's time for promotions.
So the big question is, "What certifications should I get after Foundation Level?"
