Need to Reschedule Due to the Coronavirus or Another Reason?

Are you concerned that the coronavirus or another reason can make it difficult to take your ISTQB exam on your scheduled date and time? We have good news.

One of the advantages of taking your ISTQB exam through ASTQB and our ISTQB exam provider, AT*SQA, is the flexibility:
  • You have up to 365 days to schedule your initial exam date when you purchase a voucher.
  • Once you have scheduled your exam, you may reschedule it with no additional fee so long as you do so at least 72 hours before the exam
  • You may reschedule your exam multiple times with no additional fee so long as you do so each time at least 72 hours before the exam
  • If you are within 72 hours of your exam, the $75 change fee can only be waived by Kryterion/Webassessor because they have to pay for the employees that staff the testing centers. This requires a doctor's note stating that you could not sit for the exam. In that case, contact Kryterion via the Kryterion Test Taker Support Area. Do not contact AT*SQA or ASTQB in this case, as the waiver must be given by Kryterion.
  • Kryterion will also post notices in their Kryterion Test Taker Support Area if an area has had a widespread test center closure that requires a no-cost reschedule.
Tip: If you have several individuals who can take their exams at the same time in the same location, you may be eligible for an on-site exam. The exams can be any combination of foundation, specialty, advanced or expert certifications. Contact the AT*SQA Support Team for the criteria and details.

Finding Training Grants - Part 2

If you are looking for a grant to cover the cost of training for ASTQB's certifications, we have a good starting point for you.

We discussed Ohio's new reimbursement program, TechCred, previously.

On a national basis, CareerOneStop, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, has a list of training grant sources at both the state and federal level

Of course, as the official U.S. Board for ISTQB Certification, ASTQB has many certification exams on the CareerOneStop certifications list. Below are just a few.
Sample of exams offered by the American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) that are approved by CareerOneStop.

U.S. Veterans - Don't Overlook This Benefit

If you’re a Veteran and you qualify for the GI Bill, you may be able to use part of your entitlement to cover test fees up to $2,000 for a job that requires a license or certification in order for you to work.

ASTQB is the official representative of ISTQB certification in the U.S., so the VA has provided reimbursement for ASTQB exams for many years. We are happy to announce that Usability Testing is now also being approved.

As a reminder, here is the current list approved by the VA:
  • Foundation Level Testing (ISTQB)
  • Agile Testing (ISTQB)
  • Mobile Testing (ASTQB)
  • Usability Testing (ISTQB)
  • Security Testing (ISTQB)
  • Technical Test Analyst (ISTQB)
  • Test Analyst (ISTQB)
  • Test Automation Engineering (ISTQB)
  • Test Manager (ISTQB)
We expect additional exams to be added soon.

Hear about Cybersecurity and DevOps at Upcoming Conferences

The volunteer leaders in ASTQB and our exam provider, AT*SQA, have a passion for supporting software quality. Over the years, these volunteers have spoken at many software quality conferences, and the start of 2020 is no exception!

If you are attending these conferences, make time for these presentations. Be sure to introduce yourself to the presenter afterward. Some of the best information and professional connections come at the end of a presentation!

ITEA 7th Cybersecurity Workshop: Solutions to Cybersecurity T&E Challenges
Thursday, April 2nd at 3:30 pm

Test practitioners need to advance both their skills and their professional recognition in an arena as rapidly evolving as cybersecurity. The ongoing AT*SQA "Observatory" function analyzes emerging trends and develops new training material and recognition options.

This session will discuss how AT*SQA offers modular professional development tracked by ongoing re-certification opportunities built on the AT*SQA Testing Essentials framework.
